QUEENSLAND BUSINESS RECOVERY PROGRAM
The Queensland Business Recovery Program Counselling Service has been established to provide support and assistance to small business owners and assistance with recovering from the impact and personal trauma as a result of Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Counsellors are available to provide support to you and your immediate family members over the phone and via video conferencing 7am – 7pm Monday to Friday.
Our team of psychologists are also available for one-on-one consultations across all five of the affected eligible local government areas as follows;
Whitsundays / Mackay / Isaac / Rockhampton and Logan
The service is completely free for small business owners and their immediate family members impacted by Tropical Cyclone Debbie located within any of the affected eligible local government areas. Counsellors are available to discuss any issues that you and your family may be experiencing as a result of the recent natural disaster and will work with you to help reduce the personal impact and to help with your small business recovery.
The service is totally confidential and nothing that could identify you or the content of your discussions is shared with any third parties.
Counsellors will listen to your concerns and provide sound practical advice to help you care for yourself and your loved ones.

Discuss a Variety of Topics
A wide range of topics are welcome for discussion including managing anxiety and worry, coping with change, planning and problem solving, discussing things with your family, alcohol and other drug use, getting healthy sleep, thoughts about suicide, managing any current mental health symptoms and more.
What to Expect from the Service
Three sessions are available to you. Initial sessions may be via phone with your first call or scheduled at a time convenient to you. Two follow up sessions can be scheduled via phone, video conference or in person in most locations.
Counsellors will assist you to access local health services for further help if required.
The service is provided by Psychologists registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority and bound by the Australian Psychology Society Code of Ethics.

STATE RECOVERY PLAN 2017-2019
OPERATION QUEENSLAND RECOVERY
On 17 May 2017, the Queensland Government announced Operation Queensland Recovery: State Recovery Plan 2017-19 (the Plan) to assist small businesses recover from the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Debbie. The Plan includes $1.5 million in grants, $2 million for the ongoing Go Local campaign, and $550,000 for dedicated workshops, mentoring and counselling services for impacted small businesses.
The Office of Small Business (OSB), Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games has been tasked with administering the Plan. The counselling services have been implemented to assist small business owners and their families suffering from mental health issues and ensure that an appropriate treatment pathway is identified to ensure their ongoing mental health.
The counselling services will be targeted toward small businesses in Category C activated areas under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.
